Abstract: Twenty years of collecting around the world and thousands of hours of delving into the literature and examining specimens in international museums has produced this complete monograph of the large and popular family of Terebridae marine mollusks. The family Terebridae, popularly known as terebras, auger shells and marlin spikes, are a dominant molluscan element of lagoons, sand bars and deep-waters of the tropics and subtropics. Early European expeditions to the Indian and Pacific Oceans and the Carribean brought back the first species, which were later incorporated into the conchological cabinets of the rich titled, and formed the basis of the descriptions and illustrations of early works on conchology.
