Abstract: The spiny lobster is a abundant in the Torres Strait and it supports commercial dive fisheries in both Australia and Papua New Guinea. The fishery relies in two year classes for the bulk of the catch as is therefore sensitive to annual variation in recruitment success. The life cycle is detailed with reference to the fishery.
