Abstract:
The distribution and characteristics of mesoscale eddies in the tropical southwest Pacific Ocean are investigated using observations from combined satellite altimetry (Aviso Duacs) and in situ data (Argo floats and a mooring). The satellite data was used with an eddy detection and tracking algorithm to determine the characteristics of eddies at the surface.
