Abstract:
The earth’s atmosphere contains significant amounts of aerosols. Aerosols are fine solid and liquid particles suspended in the air (IPCC, 2007; Seinfeld and Pandis, 1998). Atmospheric aerosols play important roles in climate and atmospheric chemistry. The part of the atmosphere closest to the Earth’s surface, the troposphere, extends up to 10 to 15 km upwards from the earth’s surface and contains most of the aerosol particles (Seinfeld and Pandis, 1998). The influence of aerosols on climate change is currently of great interest to the scientific community. Aerosols tend to affect the radiation energy budget of the earth’s atmosphere and also affect the hydrological cycle and precipitation efficiency.
